In the Main Astronomical Observatory (MAO) the department which is responsible for atmospheric aerosol measurements is Department of Atmospheric Optics and Instrumentation (DAOI). The main focus of the department is to develop equipment and methods of optical monitoring of planetary atmospheres, including the Earth's atmosphere, providing ozone and aerosol permanent observations in the framework of the GAW WMO Program and the AERONET sun photometer network including in situ PM particles measurements in Air Visual network, design astro-space instrumentation. The DAOI is the main body for design and manage the aerosol polarimetric space mission Aerosol-UA (see https://aerosol-ua.mao.kiev.ua/index.php/en/).
