The Hudaks: “Clean air is part of the solution”

When Kevin Hudak was born, doctors said he would never walk or talk. Four years later, he began walking. Now he is working toward the day he will begin talking too.

When Kevin Hudak was born in 2004, doctors said he would never walk or talk. Kevin was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a medical condition that results from a brain injury – usually before or during birth. Four years later, Kevin began walking. Now his family and physicians are working toward the day he will begin talking too.

Kevin’s treatment plan includes traveling over 700 km twice a year from their home to the Family Hope Center near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Family Hope Center is a specialised clinic for children with developmental challenges, including cerebral palsy. It was during a visit to the Family Hope Center that Kevin’s father, Jon, first noticed the air purifiers in many offices at the clinic. After talking to doctors and staff at the Family Hope Center, Jon came to understand how important clean air is for his son’s comfort and health.

Air quality is critical to progress

“Children with brain injuries have a host of issues to tackle,” said Jon. “They are very sensitive to allergens and other airborne pollutants. Air quality affects their progress and growth long-term. I was determined to give Kevin the opportunity to breathe the cleanest air possible.”

Back home, Jon went online and began looking for the best air purifier available. He read all the reviews he could find, and carefully examined the technical specs of the air purifiers that received the highest ratings.

After hours of research, Jon concluded there was only one air purifier that is proven in third-party testing to deliver the cleanest air: IQAir.

IQAir does what others don’t

“I liked that the HealthPro 250 was a multi-filter system, with three filters instead of just two like many air purifiers. It also covered more square footage than the others. And, I liked that it filters ultrafine particles, while the others do not,” said Jon.

“On top of that, the HealthPro 250 received the strongest recommendation from our medical team at the clinic,” he adds. Jon ordered the HealthPro 250 online. It arrived at the Hudak home in the middle of summer and the difference was immediately noticeable.

“The spring, summer and fall are strong allergy seasons here in Ohio,” said Jon. “Before we received our HealthPro 250, we couldn’t keep windows open in the house. Exposure to allergens made Kevin miserable. He was stuffed up and even sick to his stomach as his body tried to expel allergens.”

“With the HealthPro 250, we can keep the windows open whenever we want, especially on nice days. Kevin’s overall health has improved, and breathing clean air helps him continue to progress physically and intellectually,” said Jon.

“I recommend the IQAir HealthPro 250 to any family with a child who has a brain injury or disability,” Jon said. “Having clean air is an important part of the solution for these children. Thanks to the HealthPro 250, Kevin is healthier and happier and continuing to make progress,” said Jon.

Surrounded by towering oil rigs and diesel-fueled tanker trucks, Charina Robinson realized it was time to invest in a high-performance air purifier for her home.

McKenzie County, in the US State of North Dakota, might not come to mind when you think about diesel exhaust and industrial pollution. The area is known for its rolling grasslands, grazing cattle and abundant wildlife along the upper Missouri River.

But since 2009, an oil production boom in and around Watford City, the capitol of McKenzie County, has helped the area become known for towering oil rigs and diesel-fueled tanker trucks. The local population has grown dramatically to support the exploding oil industry. Near Highway 85 on the south end of Watford City, tractor-trailers and flatbed pickup trucks clog the local roads and contribute to elevated levels of air pollution that would be typical of large industrial cities.

Robinson Family allergies increased after move

Soon after Charina Robinson moved to Watford City with her husband (an oil-field worker) and their two children in 2013, she knew it was time to invest in a high-performance air purifier for their home. The local dust and airborne particulates were triggering her children’s allergies, prompting a string of visits to the doctor for allergy shots and medications. Also, Charina began experiencing skin allergies after the move to Watford City.

“Moving to the center of an oilfield boom was making us sick,” says Charina. “Between the dust, chemicals and other pollutants from the petrol- and diesel-powered trucks all around us, we knew we would have to get the best air purifier on the market.”

The Robinsons had owned ordinary air cleaners in the past, but the noise and frequent filter replacements prompted Charina and her husband to research the best air purifier they could find. After countless hours of research, they chose the IQAir HealthPro 250.

The solution: The IQAir HealthPro 250

The improvement was almost immediate.

“Since we bought the HealthPro 250, my kids’ allergy symptoms have been reduced significantly. They haven’t taken a single over-the-counter allergy medicine in months,” says Charina.

“And I have not needed to visit a doctor for my allergies either,” she adds.

Charina says the HealthPro 250 has also been helpful in her kitchen, because she loves to cook and it helps clear the air when the windows are closed.

“If we ever move again, my IQAir is definitely coming with me,” Charina says. “I would highly recommend the HealthPro 250 to any allergy sufferer, wherever you live.”

Idan Zablocki

IQAir helps 2-year-old Idan survive in NYC

Idan Zablocki was only 8 months old when he was diagnosed with Hyper IgM, a rare immune disorder. At home, two IQAir air purifiers keep him safe around the clock.

In New York City, he cannot go to daycare or ride on the subway. Outings to nearby Central Park are brief and infrequent. Germs that would cause only sniffles and sneezes for others could be fatal for Idan Zablocki. At only 8 months old, Idan was diagnosed with Hyper IgM, a rare genetic disorder that affects one in half a million babies. The disorder compromises Idan’s immune system. Bacteria, viruses and fungi that are easily handled by a healthy immune system are a constant threat to those with Hyper IgM.

At 8 months old, Idan began exhibiting symptoms of Hyper IgM, a rare immune disorder.

That’s why Idan’s physicians insisted the family should invest in a medical-grade air cleaner.

“I think I read every review out there about HEPA filters,” says Akiva Zablocki, the boy’s father. “IQAir was the only filter on the market that had the ability to filter out microbes — including viruses — and other airborne particles as small as 0.003 microns. That was the key for us.”

When the family traveled to Seattle for a bone marrow transplant for Idan later that year, they packed their HealthPro 250 to take with them.

“We took only a few possessions, but you better believe our IQAir went all the way across the country with us,” Akiva says. “We shipped it out by express mail two days before we arrived, and it stayed in our Seattle apartment until the day we left.”

After returning to New York, Idan’s parents bought a second IQAir system for their living room.

“Our son is now 2 years old, and he rarely catches a cold,” says Akiva. “We credit IQAir for that fact.” Akiva says the entire family is healthier and happier with the two IQAir HealthPro systems providing a steady supply of clean, medical-grade air to breathe. “The air purifiers keep the air in our apartment clean and free of germs. When someone in our household is sick, we turn the IQAir systems up to full speed, which gives us tremendous peace of mind. We even roll one from room to room in our house when we clean.”

Akiva recommends the IQAir HealthPro 250 for any family that is serious about breathing the cleanest air possible — especially families with allergies or asthma.

“IQAir makes it possible to have Idan safe at home instead of in the hospital,” he says. “Thank you, IQAir.”
