UFAC began with the Faculty of Law in March 1964 (State Decree No. 187). In 1968, the Faculty of Economic Sciences was created and, shortly thereafter, the courses in Letters, Pedagogy, Mathematics and Social Studies, being officialized in March 1970, the University Center of Acre. This Center became the University of Acre on January 22, 1971. The federalization of the University of Acre was implemented on April 5, 1974 (Law 6,025). Today UFAC has more than 35 regular courses distributed in Rio Branco and Cruzeiro do Sul.
