LUNG On 01.01.1999 the State Office for Environment and Nature (LAUN) and the State Geological Survey (GLA) were merged to form the State Office for Environment, Nature Conservation and Geology (LUNG). The tasks and responsibilities of the two higher technical authorities in the area of the Ministry of the Environment, which have existed since 1991, were transferred to the LUNG. The state office is located on the grounds of the Güstrow University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and Administration of Justice. In the field of environment and nature conservation, the main focus is on recording, documenting and evaluating the state of the environment, developing the basis for planning and implementing state-wide protection measures and advising the state government.
