Environmental control for dental offices

Proven protection against viruses, bacteria, disinfectants and mercury vapor

Mercury control

IQAir systems provide a line of defense against harmful mercury vapor that can threaten the health and safety of patients and staff.

Potentially harmful mercury vapor is generated and dispersed into the dental office air as a result of placing or removing amalgam fillings. Dental offices can help protect staff and patients by capturing aerosolized mercury vapor in the air.

1. The IQAir Dental Series Pro: Provides exceptional filtration of mercury vapor, disinfectant smells and a wide range of VOCs with 5 kg of granular impregnated alumina, activated carbon and impregnated activated carbon.

2. The Dental Series Hg FlexVac System: Provides maximum protection against mercury vapor due to a source capture arm and specialized mercury filtration.

100x more filtration

IQAir Dental Series air purifiers filter even the smallest and most harmful of airborne particles, including tiny ultrafine particles.

Unlike other air purifiers, IQAir's HyperHEPA filtration technology is proven to effectively filter ultrafine particles, the smallest and most harmful particles in the air. IQAir HyperHEPA filtration technology is effective against particles all the way down to 0.003 microns in diameter – the smallest particles that exist.

Proven effective against ultrafine particles

Ultrafine particles are the most dangerous of all. IQAir filtration is effective against particles 100x smaller than what is claimed for ordinary air filters.

Click here to see why particle size matters ...

Ultrafine particles are smaller than 0.1 microns. By sheer number, about 90% of all airborne particles are this size. The primary source of ultrafine particles is combustion from motor vehicles, refineries, industrial plants and even cooking. Viruses are also ultrafine particles. The small size of ultrafine particles enables them to be easily inhaled, deposited into the lungs and absorbed into the blood. They have been linked to heart attacks, strokes, asthma and even cancer.

Manufacturers of ordinary air filtration systems claim only that their systems filter particles larger than 0.3 microns. IQAir is different. IQAir’s HyperHEPA filtration is proven and certified to filter up to 99.5% of all particles down to 0.003 microns – the smallest particles that exist. Independent testing by laboratories and government agencies verifies the effectiveness of IQAir technology against ultrafine particles. When it comes to protection against ultrafine particulates, IQAir is the proven choice.

Filtration of viruses of all sizes

Stops even the tiniest microorganisms, including viruses and other contaminants that quickly spread in the air.

The prevention of contaminated dental equipment is always a priority for dental practices, but viruses and other contaminants can quickly spread through the air in a dental office. Drilling and other procedures can increase the presence of airborne viruses, including viral hepatitis, which is typically as small as 0.05 microns in diameter.

Conventional air purifier technologies are ineffective against particles of this size. IQAir’s HyperHEPA filtration in the Dental Series has an efficiency of 95% against even these tiniest viruses and other contaminants, offering an additional level of protection for staff and patients.

Certified at the factory

Each and every Dental Series system is hand-tested before it is shipped. And the results are detailed in a hand-signed certificate.

IQAir individually tests each and every Dental Series air purifier at the factory to ensure that the particle filtration efficiency and airflow of each system meet published specifications. Electronic laser particle counters sample the air at the air purifier outlet to verify that the system is performing to efficiency standards in reality, not just theory. The results of each test are detailed in a hand-signed Certificate of Performance, which is shipped from the factory in the box with every Dental Series system.

Two models for dental offices

With two models to choose from, you can select the IQAir system that fits the specific pollution control need.

The IQAir Dental Series includes two models, the Dental Pro and the Dental Hg FlexVac, each of which specifically address the pollution-control needs of dental offices.

1. The Dental Pro is a compact, stand-alone air purifier that features five filtration stages to help eliminate dental office contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, VOCs, disinfectant odors and mercury vapor. It can easily be placed anywhere in the office and cleans the air by constant recirculation within the office.

2. The Dental Hg FlexVac is also a mobile air cleaning system, but additionally features a flexible suction duct. The Dental Hg FlexVac excels at capturing drill aerosols, abrasion powder, and mercury vapor during dental procedures. The flexible suction duct is typically placed on the patient’s chest to directly capture drill aerosols and mercury vapor before they spread.

Up to 5 stages of filtration

More filter stages equals more protection. Each filtration stage in an IQAir system represents the very best technology available.

The IQAir Dental Series design incorporates up to five stages of filtration to provide extraordinary control of a full spectrum of contaminants in the air. First, air in both models passes through a HyperHEPA H11 (EN 1822) pre-filter that stops 95% of all particles in the air.

Next, in the Dental Pro, air is powerfully moved through three different filtration media – granular impregnated alumina, activated carbon and impregnated activated carbon – to filter a full range of gases, chemicals, and odors.

In the Dental Hg FlexVac model, 11 pounds of granular impregnated activated carbon are included for maximum filtration of mercury. Finally, both models feature a set of fine-dust post-filtration sleeves with electrostatically charged microfibers that remove any remaining contaminants to achieve 99% total system efficiency at 0.3 microns and 95% efficiency at 0.003 microns.

Quiet New Edition technology

New Edition design made these systems 32% quieter than before. Also, filters last longer and provide more clean air than ever.

IQAir Dental Series air purifiers feature IQAir New Edition technology that produces an average of 32% less sound across all fan speeds compared to previous generations. This improvement was accomplished by matching IQAir New Edition filter-pleating technology with the New Edition fan and its "fan-in-center" design that places the fan motor between sound-attenuating filters. HyperHEPA filters with New Edition technology in the Dental Series also last 20% longer than before. Also, the New Edition systems generate up to 21% more clean air with no loss of efficiency.

New Edition fan

The fan in IQAir Dental Series systems is so efficient it requires no more electricity than a conventional light bulb.

IQAir Dental Series air purifiers cost very little to operate. They require no more power than a conventional light bulb. At the very heart of these air purifiers is the ultra-efficient, centrifugal, high performance IQAir New Edition fan and its maintenance-free motor. This mechanical powerhouse delivers up to 780 cubic feet of air per minute (without filters) while requiring as little as 27 watts of power at the lowest speed and up to a maximum of 215 watts at the highest speed. As a result, it costs only pennies per day to protect your staff and patients with the most advanced air filtration technology available for dental offices.

Swiss quality

Swiss Made means you are assured of the highest standards of design and manufacturing excellence in every IQAir system.

Swiss Made is more than just a label of origin. It is a sign of outstanding quality, uniqueness, superior design, innovation, precision and reliability. In an industry in which most air cleaners don't meet manufacturers' claims, IQAir tests and certifies each and every IQAir air purification system. All manufacturing is done in IQAir’s own state-of-the-art Swiss production facility on the pristine shores of the Lake of Constance. By using the highest quality components, a dedicated team of highly skilled and extensively trained craftsmen and women, and state-of-the-art manufacturing processes refined over 50 years, IQAir is able to build the finest air purifiers in the world.

Best media, superior filtration

IQAir Dental Series systems feature only the highest quality carbon and other media for protection against gases, odors and chemicals.

The extraordinary performance of the IQAir Dental Series begins with the highest quality, exceptionally porous, activated bituminous-coal carbon in the gas-phase filtration cartridges. This is not the lower-cost, high-dust carbon from coconut shells that many air purifiers use. That's good news for anyone allergic to coconut. And IQAir does not use zeolite, another less effective and less expensive filtration medium.

The superior activated carbon media in the Dental Series is blended with chemisorbers that target volatile organic compounds in the air, including formaldehyde. The IQAir Dental Pro system also features pelletized aluminum oxide. The alumina pellets are impregnated with potassium permanganate, forming a powerful combination to filter a wide spectrum of gases, odors and chemicals.

Moves where it's needed

IQAir Dental Series systems are easy to move into place wherever you need them in the office or in the waiting area.

The built-in guiding handle on top and sturdy casters on the bottom of the Dental Series air purifiers make them simple to roll around an office or clinic to provide high-performance air purification wherever it is needed. And when not needed, the Dental Series systems are easy to roll into a utility closet or other handy office storage area.

320-degree air exhaust

IQAir's EvenFlow Diffuser provides a steady supply of clean throughout the environment with less noise and no drafts.

Most air cleaners return filtered air into the environment through a small, noisy outlet that even makes it difficult to communicate. The Dental Series was designed with a 320-degree EvenFlow Diffuser to supply more air in more directions without drafts or noise. Other systems create annoying air drafts and restrict the ability of a system to produce fresh, clean air that can fill the room. The IQAir EvenFlow Diffuser boosts system efficiency by evenly returning cleaned air through a large 320-degree outlet. The wide dispersion pattern allows the Dental Series to produce a high air delivery rate with very little noise.

Remote control

Sleek, efficient, handheld remote control for the Dental Series systems makes it easy to use for everyone in the office.

A sleek and efficient handheld remote control makes it easy to manage an IQAir Dental Series air purifier from almost anywhere in the office, treatment room or waiting area. Dentists, assistants and other staff can set the fan speed and even timer controls without touching the system itself. When not in use the remote control fits easily in the recesses on the top of the system, where it can be found again quickly when needed.

3D UltraSeal

With IQAir's patented knife-edge-in-groove system, all of the air passing through the air cleaner is filtered, with no bypass.

The efficiency stated for most air cleaners is purely theoretical. Internal leakage drastically reduces the actual efficiency of most air cleaners. IQAir systems feature patented triple-sealing technology. First, a unique process ensures that the filter media is 100% sealed in the filter frame. Second, IQAir’s patented 3D UltraSeal ensures perfect knife-edge-in-groove sealing between filter frame and housing. Third, individual seals on each housing module ensure an airtight housing. As a result, IQAir systems have a total system efficiency that is higher than the theoretical efficiency of conventional air cleaners.
