Environmental control for dental offices

Proven protection against viruses, bacteria, disinfectants and mercury vapour

Mercury control

IQAir systems provide a line of defense against harmful mercury vapour that can threaten the health and safety of patients and staff.

Potentially harmful mercury vapour is generated and dispersed into the dental office air as a result of placing or removing amalgam fillings. Dental offices can help protect staff and patients by capturing aerosolised mercury vapor in the air.

1. The IQAir Dental Series Pro: Provides exceptional filtration of mercury vapour, disinfectant smells and a wide range of VOCs with 5 kg of granular impregnated alumina, activated carbon and impregnated activated carbon.

2. The Dental Series Hg FlexVac System: Provides maximum protection against mercury vapour due to a source capture arm and specialized mercury filtration.

100x more filtration

IQAir Dental Series air purifiers filter even the smallest and most harmful of airborne particles, including tiny ultrafine particles.

Unlike other air purifiers, IQAir's HyperHEPA filtration technology is proven to effectively filter ultrafine particles, the smallest and most harmful particles in the air. IQAir HyperHEPA filtration technology is effective against particles all the way down to 0.003 microns in diameter – the smallest particles that exist.

Proven effective against ultrafine particles

Ultrafine particles are the most dangerous of all. IQAir filtration is effective against particles 100x smaller than what is claimed for ordinary air filters.

Click here to see why particle size matters...

Ultrafine particles are smaller than 0.1 microns. By sheer number, about 90% of all airborne particles are this size. The primary source of ultrafine particles is combustion from motor vehicles, refineries, industrial plants and even cooking. Viruses are also ultrafine particles. The small size of ultrafine particles enables them to be easily inhaled, deposited into the lungs and absorbed into the blood. They have been linked to heart attacks, strokes, asthma and even cancer.

Manufacturers of ordinary air filtration systems claim only that their systems filter particles larger than 0.3 microns. IQAir is different. IQAir’s HyperHEPA filtration is proven and certified to filter up to 99.5% of all particles down to 0.003 microns – the smallest particles that exist. Independent testing by laboratories and government agencies verifies the effectiveness of IQAir technology against ultrafine particles. When it comes to protection against ultrafine particulates, IQAir is the proven choice.

Filtration of viruses of all sizes

Stops even the tiniest microorganisms, including viruses and other contaminants that quickly spread in the air.

The prevention of contaminated dental equipment is always a priority for dental practices, but viruses and other contaminants can quickly spread through the air in a dental office. Drilling and other procedures can increase the presence of airborne viruses, including viral hepatitis, which is typically as small as 0.05 microns in diameter.

Conventional air purifier technologies are ineffective against particles of this size. IQAir’s HyperHEPA filtration in the Dental Series has an efficiency of 95% against even these tiniest viruses and other contaminants, offering an additional level of protection for staff and patients.

Certified at the factory

Each and every Dental Series system is hand-tested before it is shipped. And the results are detailed in a hand-signed certificate.

IQAir individually tests each and every Dental Series air purifier at the factory to ensure that the particle filtration efficiency and airflow of each system meet published specifications. Electronic laser particle counters sample the air at the air purifier outlet to verify that the system is performing to efficiency standards in reality, not just theory. The results of each test are detailed in a hand-signed Certificate of Performance, which is shipped from the factory in the box with every Dental Series system.

Two models for dental offices

With two models to choose from, you can select the IQAir system that fits the specific pollution control need.

The IQAir Dental Series includes two models, the Dental Pro and the Dental Hg FlexVac, each of which specifically address the pollution-control needs of dental offices.

  1. The Dental Pro is a compact, stand-alone air purifier that features five filtration stages to help eliminate dental office contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, VOCs, disinfectant odors and mercury vapor. It can easily be placed anywhere in the office and cleans the air by constant recirculation within the office.
  2. The Dental Hg FlexVac is also a mobile air cleaning system, but additionally features a flexible suction duct. The Dental Hg FlexVac excels at capturing drill aerosols, abrasion powder, and mercury vapor during dental procedures. The flexible suction duct is typically placed on the patient’s chest to directly capture drill aerosols and mercury vapor before they spread.

Up to 5 stages of filtration

More filter stages equals more protection. Each filtration stage in an IQAir system represents the very best technology available.

The IQAir Dental Series design incorporates up to five stages of filtration to provide extraordinary control of a full spectrum of contaminants in the air. First, air in both models passes through a HyperHEPA H11 (EN 1822) pre-filter that stops 95% of all particles in the air.

Next, in the Dental Pro, air is powerfully moved through three different filtration media – granular impregnated alumina, activated carbon and impregnated activated carbon – to filter a full range of gases, chemicals, and odors.

In the Dental Hg FlexVac model, 11 pounds of granular impregnated activated carbon are included for maximum filtration of mercury. Finally, both models feature a set of fine-dust post-filtration sleeves with electrostatically charged microfibers that remove any remaining contaminants to achieve 99% total system efficiency at 0.3 microns and 95% efficiency at 0.003 microns.

Best media, superior filtration

IQAir Dental Series systems feature only the highest quality carbon and other media for protection against gases, odors and chemicals common to dental practices.

The extraordinary performance of the IQAir Dental Series begins with the highest quality, exceptionally porous, activated bituminous-coal carbon in the gas-phase filtration cartridges. This is not the lower-cost, high-dust carbon from coconut shells that many air purifiers use. That's good news for anyone allergic to coconut. And IQAir does not use zeolite, another less effective and less expensive filtration medium.

The superior activated carbon media in the Dental Series is blended with chemisorbers that target volatile organic compounds in the air, including formaldehyde. The IQAir Dental Pro system also features pelletized aluminum oxide. The alumina pellets are impregnated with potassium permanganate, forming a powerful combination to filter a wide spectrum of gases, odors and chemicals.
