CleanZone® 5000 Series

The ultimate stand-alone air purifier

More power, more protection, more options.

Two powerful models

The CleanZone 5000 Series comes in two different models: the 5100 for ultimate protection against particles and the 5200 for advanced gas and odor control.

The CleanZone 5100 and 5200 models each offer extraordinary protection against airborne pollutants:

CleanZone 5100: For maximum reduction of particulate matter and microorganisms, this system combines high-efficiency pre-filtration with a 300 square foot (28 m2) class 12/13 HyperHEPA filter for ultimate particle control.

CleanZone 5200: For maximum reduction of gases, odors and particulate matter (including microorganisms), the 5200 features high-efficiency pre-filtration, up to 158 lbs. (72 kg) of gas and odor filtration media plus class H11 post-filtration.

Highly effective against airborne chemicals

The amazing performance of the CleanZone 5200 model begins with the highest-quality activated bituminous-coal carbon in the gas-phase cartridges.

IQAir does not use zeolite, another less effective and less expensive filtration medium. The superior activated carbon in CleanZone 5200 models with gas and odor filtration is blended with chemisorbers that target other volatile organic compounds in the air, including formaldehyde. In some configurations, IQAir activated carbon is complemented by pelletized aluminum oxide. The alumina pellets are impregnated with potassium permanganate, forming a powerful combination to filter a wide spectrum of gases, odors and chemicals.

Multiple configurations

With two models and many optional configurations, the CleanZone 5000 offers a performance combination for almost every air quality problem.

The CleanZone 5100 is equipped with the IQAir HyperHEPA 700 filter drum for maximum filtration efficiency of fine and ultrafine particles. The CleanZone 5200 is optimized for gas-phase pollution treatment, with 12 GCXL/S cartridges in six available configurations:

  • MultiGas – for volatile organic compounds and many inorganic compounds
  • VOC – for volatile organic compounds, hydrocarbons and solvents
  • ChemiSorber – for inorganic compounds and some organic compounds (e.g., formaldehyde and sulfur dioxide)
  • AM (ammonia) – for ammonia and amines
  • AcidPro – for acids such as hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, chlorine and sulfuric acid
  • Hg (mercury) – for mercury vapors

Highly effective against ultrafine particles

IQAir's advanced HyperHEPA filtration is highly effective against particles 100x smaller that what is claimed by air filters.

Click here to see why particle size matters ...

While the adverse health effects of PM2.5 and PM10 have been studied for many years, scientists agree the most harmful form of air pollution is ultrafine particles. Ultrafine particles are by definition smaller than 0.1 micron. By sheer number, they make up more than 90% of all airborne particles. Because a particle that is 0.1 micron in size weighs 1,000,000 (one million!) times less than a 10 micron particle, ultrafine particles are grossly underrepresented in PM2.5 and PM10 measurements.

Ultrafine particles can stay in the air for hours, are easily inhaled deep into ther lungs and get absorbed into the bloodstream. From there, ultrafine particles reach every organ and every cell in the body and disrupt their proper operation. Ultrafine particles have been linked to heart attacks, strokes, asthma and even cancer.

Advanced particle filtration

IQAir CleanZone 5100 Series air purifier combines powerful, high-efficiency pre-filtration with up to 301 square feet of HyperHEPA filtration media.

HyperHEPA is the only air cleaning technology tested and certified to effectively filter harmful ultrafine pollution particles down to 0.003 microns in size with an efficiency of 99.5%. These tiny particles are 100 times smaller than what is filtered with ordinary air filtration technology and up to 10 times smaller than a typical virus.

At the pre-filtration stage, the CleanZone 5100’s high-efficiency pre-filter removes more than 95% of all particles (0.3 microns and larger), including 85% of all particles down to 0.003 microns, before air is moved through additional HyperHEPA particle filtration or gas and odor filter cartridges.

High volume, high efficiency

The CleanZone 5000 Series moves more air (up to 1200 cfm) through more high-performance air filtration media than any other IQAir stand-alone air purifier.

This extraordinary capacity is made possible by integrating a powerful fan into every CleanZone 5000 model. The fan is powerful enough to move large volumes of air through HyperHEPA particle filters and broad-spectrum gas and odor filters, depending on the model.

Quiet operation

Suitable for noise-sensitive environments such as meeting rooms, offices and public business areas, or anywhere else that demands the cleanest air without noise.

The CleanZone 5000 is powerful, yet quiet. Its 10 fan-speed settings allow it to be set to a fan speed that matches the sound requirements of any indoor environment, whether it is a library or laboratory.

Integrated control panel

The advanced control panel on every CleanZone 5000 Series air purifier uses optical sensors and other technologies to give you total control.

The digital control panel lets you choose from 10 fan-speed settings, monitor the remaining life of each filter, set the timer and modify pollution level settings. The control panel can also be used to activate and manage password access.

Two-stage modular design

Each CleanZone 5000 Series system is actually composed to two separate modules, providing superior yet flexible air cleaning solutions.

Most great ideas are simple, and the CleanZone 5000 Series modular design is a perfect example. By designing the system as two separate modules, IQAir’s engineering team was able to create a flexible and superior lineup of high-volume air purifiers to meet every need. Both models share the same powerful yet quiet fan, and the same high-efficiency pre-filter. But a variety of main filter module (the second module) configurations allows for specific filtration solutions for specialized commercial air quality problems.

Upflow, downflow

Airflow direction can be reversed in the CleanZone Series systems, providing additional flexibility to meet the needs of specific air quality challenges.

Each CleanZone 5000 Series model can be oriented to provide airflow from bottom up (“upflow”) or from top down (“downflow”). While upflow is more common, there are many good reasons to reorient a CleanZone 5000 Series to provide downflow. For example, a downflow orientation may be desirable for treating indoor pollution such as tobacco smoke that tends to rise. The CleanZone 5000 Series performs just as well in either direction.

CleanZone 5100: Ultimate particle filtration

The CleanZone 5100 model combines two of IQAir’s most powerful filtration media into a single high-capacity air purifier.

First, a high-efficiency filter module cleans the air of a minimum of 95% of all particles 0.3 microns in diameter or larger, and more than 85% of all ultrafine particles down to 0.003 microns, the smallest particles that exist. After passing through the high-efficiency pre-filtration module, the cleaned air is then powerfully drawn through 301 square feet (27.96m2) of advanced IQAir HyperHEPA® filtration media. This filters any remaining particles, with a total efficiency of 99.97% of all particles 0.3 microns or larger and 99.5% of all particles down to 0.003 microns in diameter.

Tamper-proof exterior

The CleanZone 5000 Series was designed to perform at its best in busy public areas, such as open plan offices, classrooms and medical facilities.

Unlike air purifiers for the home, the CleanZone 5000 Series is designed to be inherently tamper-proof. Access to filters, fan speed controls and the power cable can all be limited and made available to authorized staff only.

HyperHEPA filtration

The CleanZone 5100 features IQAir's HyperHEPA air filtration technology, the most advanced air cleaning technology in the world.

The CleanZone 5100 features IQAir’s advanced HyperHEPA technology. This is the most advanced air filtration technology in the world, and is proven and certified to be effective against ultrafine particles. HyperHEPA filtration captures particles 100x smaller than what is claimed by ordinary air filters. The CleanZone 5200, designed primarily for gas-phase control, also includes high-efficiency particle filtration. Both models include the IQAir high-efficiency PreMax 500 Filter Drum as part of the system’s fan module. The PreMax 500 pre-filter eliminates micro-particles such as pollen, mold spores and other contaminants, and also 85% of all ultrafine particles down to 0.003 microns in diameter.

Optional ducting

With the optional IQAir FlexAir Duct Application, CleanZone 5000 systems can direct clean air to specific locations or create clean air micro-environments.

Ducting also allows the creation of negative or positive pressurization. Ducted operation enables the CleanZone 5000 to distribute up to 40 meters of medical-grade clean air exactly where it’s needed, providing many of the advantages of an HVAC-based system while remaining completely mobile.

Total mobility

The CleanZone 5000 Series includes extra features that make it simple to move it to wherever medical-grade air quality is needed.

Despite its superior, high-volume airflow and air filtration capabilities, a CleanZone Series air purifier is easy to move around within a building. Sturdy casters on the bottom of the CleanZone 5000 and a handlebar allow it to be moved with ease. When desired, the system can be locked in location by activating the caster lock.

Pollution level adjustment

Pollution level adjustment controls are built into the Filter Life Monitor of the CleanZone 5000, providing a more accurate calculation of remaining filter life.

The Pollution Level menu allows modifications for large dust, chemicals and fine dust. Adjustments can also be made for tobacco smoke, the presence of gases and chemicals, and dusty environments.

Swiss quality

Swiss Made is more than just a label. It is a sign of outstanding quality, uniqueness, superior design, innovation, precision and reliability.

The CleanZone 5000 has not only been Swiss designed and engineered, it is also manufactured in Switzerland. While many of our competitors outsource the manufacturing process of their air cleaning system to other companies, for IQAir the manufacturing process is the logical conclusion to the process of creating a high-performance product. It exemplifies our commitment not only to what we make, but how we make it. By using the highest quality components, a team of dedicated craftsmen and women, and a manufacturing process refined over more than 50 years, IQAir is able to build the finest air purifiers in the world.

Energy efficient

IQAir CleanZone 5000 Series moves more air (up to 1200 cfm) than other systems but requires very little power.

Even though the CleanZone 5000 Series is more powerful than other IQAir stand-alone systems, it requires very little power. At the very heart of this air purifier is the ultra-efficient centrifugal, high performance IQAir fan and its maintenance-free motor. This amazing fan delivers an extraordinary rate of clean air continuously. As a result, it costs very little to run the most advanced and effective air purifier in the world.

100% Healthy technology

Many air purifiers use technology that produces potentially harmful byproducts, such as ozone, ions, chemicals and ultrafine particles. IQAir doesn't.

The CleanZone 5000 Series uses the safest, healthiest and most effective way to clean the air: IQAir’s HyperHEPA and granular media technology. Unlike many other air cleaning systems, the CleanZone 5000 Series uses no unsafe, unproven or unreliable technologies such as ozone generation, electronic air cleaning, ionization, or ultraviolet (UV) radiation. As a result, unlike many of its competitors, the CleanZone 5000 Series produces absolutely no ozone and releases no charged particles.

Case Study: Broward County Medical Examiner's Office

IQAir's CleanZone 5100 helps protect the health and safety of the coroner and staff at a medical examiner's office.

Background: Indoor Air Quality and the medical examiner’s office

Medical examiners and their staff encounter a variety of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) risks at work. Many duties — such as performing autopsies, conducting examinations, collecting evidence and interpreting toxicological tests — require exposure to potential health hazards. This includes contact with viruses, bacteria, volatile organic compounds (such as formaldehyde) and other hazardous airborne contaminants. Managing Indoor Air Quality and ensuring staff safety is important to the success of the medical examiner’s operations. Adequate ventilation and control of contaminants at their source are vital, but air filtration may also be needed.

The Broward County (Fla.) Office of Medical Examiner and Trauma Services contacted IQAir with concerns about the Indoor Air Quality at its Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., office. The staff of 42 handles more than 1,800 cases annually, serving a large district with more than 1.8 million residents. The duties of the team include death (and death-scene) investigations, pathology, toxicology and other services such as indigent cremation and disposition.

Problem: Viruses, bacteria and other airborne contaminants

Representatives of the medical examiner’s office contacted IQAir with issues regarding Indoor Air Quality and potential staff exposures to airborne contaminants. Key areas of concern included potential exposures while performing examinations and autopsies, and taking specimens of vital organs or body fluids for microscopic or chemical testing. These concerns led Dr. Craig Mallak, chief medical examiner, to wonder if the staff could benefit from the same air-cleaning technology that worked so well in his home. Mallak asked IQAir to help design an air filtration solution that would provide similar results – medical-grade air quality – in the medical examiner’s autopsy and surgical suites, and also in other offices and common areas.

Solution: IQAir CleanZone 5100 systems for medical suites, IQAir HealthPro Plus systems in offices

Shortly after receiving a call for help, IQAir assigned a team of IQAir Commercial Solutions Field Specialists to assess the need and determine the most appropriate air cleaning solution for the facility. The IQAir team provided multiple technology configurations, and then worked with the medical examiner’s staff to tailor a customer solution that worked best for the client.

The team of experts recommended installing three IQAir CleanZone 5100 medical-grade air-cleaning systems for the autopsy suite and an additional system in the surgical suite. The CleanZone 5100 features IQAir’s patented HyperHEPA filtration, which is proven and certified to be effective against ultrafine particles – including viruses. Each of the CleanZone systems will run 24 hours a day/7 days a week, offering maximum protection and continuous air cleaning even when the staff is not present.

In addition, 25 stand-alone IQAir HealthPro Plus room air purifiers were placed in surrounding staff offices and common areas. These units were programmed to begin cleaning the air an hour prior to staff arrival and continue running until after staff has left each evening.

Working closely with the staff of the medical examiner’s office, IQAir coordinated all logistics for shipment and installation. To ensure smooth and easy installation, IQAir tested each piece of equipment prior to shipment and again after it was delivered.

Results: A continuous supply of medical-grade air

The IQAir systems installed in the Broward County medical examiner’s office provide a steady supply of medical-grade air, removing more than 99.5% of all airborne contaminants down to 0.003 microns in diameter. This includes removal of airborne viruses, bacteria, mold spores, ultrafine particles and other airborne contaminants that trigger allergies and could put the health of staff members at risk. Since the IQAir technologies were installed, there has been a decline in respiratory problems and allergies among staff members. The office’s chief of medical examiner operations says IQAir’s patented HyperHEPA filtration has provided a level of protection and indoor environmental quality that is appropriate for a world-class medical examiner’s office.
