#1 Rated room air purifier for MCS, odours & smoke

The GC MultiGas combines HyperHEPA particle filtration with powerful gas and odour filtration.

Proven to stop ultrafine particles

HyperHEPA filtration in the GC MultiGas removes particles of all sizes, including ultrafine particles down to 0.003 microns.

See why particle size matters...

Ultrafine particles are smaller than 0.1 microns. By sheer number, about 90% of all airborne particles are this size. The primary source of ultrafine particles is combustion from motor vehicles, refineries, industrial plants and even cooking. Viruses are also ultrafine particles. The small size of ultrafine particles enables them to be easily inhaled, deposited into the lungs and absorbed into the blood. They have been linked to heart attacks, strokes, asthma and even cancer.

Manufacturers of ordinary air filtration systems claim only that their systems filter particles larger than 0.3 microns. IQAir is different. IQAir’s HyperHEPA filtration in the GC MultiGas is proven and certified to filter at least 95% of all particles down to 0.003 microns – the smallest particles that exist. Independent testing by laboratories and government agencies verifies the effectiveness of IQAir technology against ultrafine particles.

In addition to the HyperHEPA pre-filter in the GC MultiGas, each gas-phase cartridge is wrapped with a micro-charged post-filter sleeve that removes any additional particles released from the activated carbon adsorption and alumina pellet chemisorption media. The pre-filter and post-filter sleeves work together to deliver a Total System Efficiency of 99% at 0.3 microns or larger, and 95% of all particles down to 0.003 microns.

When it comes to protection against ultrafine particulates, IQAir is the proven choice.

HyperHEPA filtration

IQAir's HyperHEPA filtration is proven and certified to stop airborne pollutants that ordinary HEPA filters simply cannot.

The IQAir GCMultiGas features HyperHEPA filtration technology for superior airborne particle removal. IQAir's HyperHEPA filtration is tested and certified by an independent third-party lab to effectively filter harmful ultrafine pollution particles down to 0.003 microns in size. This is 100 times smaller than what is achieved with ordinary air filtration technology and 10 times smaller than a virus. In addition, to ensure that every IQAir GC MultiGas air purifier is actually delivering superior air quality, each and every system is individually tested at the factory with an electronic particle counter and is certified to filter a minimum of 99.97% of all particles 0.3 microns or larger.

Gas mask

The best media, more micropores

The activated carbon in the GC MultiGas preserves the maximum number of micropores. The GC MultiGas packs the chemical removal power of more than 100 gas masks.

The GC MultiGas features the best media in the industry combined with superior filter design to provide an unequaled level of protection against gases, odours, and chemicals. The four disposable gas-phase filter cartridges of the GC MultiGas feature 5.4 kg of the highest-grade activated carbon from bituminous coal, not the lower-quality coconut-shell carbon others use. The activated carbon media is activated in a way to preserve the maximum number of micropores.

IQAir also does not use zeolite, another less effective and less expensive filtration medium. Alumina pellets impregnated with potassium permanganate remove formaldehyde from the air. The cylindrical shape of the GC MultiGas cartridges allows for optimal contact between the air and the filtration media, while offering very low air restriction. Meanwhile, post filters wrap each cylinder, preventing any media dust from being released while further improving overall system efficiency.

Smoke moving in the air

#1 Rated for tobacco smoke

The less secondhand smoke you breathe, the better. The GC MultiGas excels at reducing airborne contaminants from smoke.

Exposure to environmental tobacco smoke, also known as secondhand smoke, significantly increases the risk of lung cancer and heart disease in non-smokers, as well as contributing to respiratory illnesses. We agree with this advice from the Mayo Clinic: “The best way to protect non-smokers from secondhand smoke is to not allow smoking in your home.” Still, the best solution isn't always possible and that's where an air purifier can help.

Tobacco smoke contains more than 4,000 different chemicals, 60 of which are known carcinogens. These various elements are a mix of liquids, gases, and solid particles. An air purifier cannot help protect against tobacco smoke unless it provides a high level of efficiency against both particles and gases. On the other hand, a high-efficiency air purifier with the right filtration media can help dramatically. The IQAir GC MultiGas air purifier, which offers unrivaled protection against both particles and gases, is the recommendation of most experts.

The positive effect of air purifiers in homes where secondhand smoke is an issue has been demonstrated. For example, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine recently reported that an air purifier can be as effective as medications in reducing asthma attacks among children in homes where one or more parents smoke. On average, the children in the study suffered 33 fewer days per year enduring severe asthma symptoms.

Note: IQAir does not endorse smoking indoors. IQAir views air cleaning as a means in reducing the effects of secondhand smoke only when smoking is unavoidable. In an environment where smoking indoors in unavoidable, smoking should be confined to only one room.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

The GC MultiGas provides real protection that can help you feel better. That's why the GC MultiGas is rated #1 for those with MCS.

A significant number of individuals suffer from Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS), characterised by elevated sensitivities to household chemicals. Symptoms can include eye irritation, wheezing, fatigue, rhinitis, sore throat or cough, skin rashes and other symptoms. The best strategy for treating MCS is to avoid the airborne contaminants and chemicals that trigger the illness and reactions. Because indoor air pollution concentrations are typically much higher than outdoor air pollution levels, “air-filtration devices that remove both particulate and chemical substances from breathable indoor air usually benefit MCS patients considerably,” one leading medical expert concluded.

Reviewers rate IQAir air purifiers as the best systems available for MCS sufferers. Most other air purifiers simply are not effective enough to make a real difference in the quality of the air an MCS sufferer breathes. Equally important, IQAir does not use any technologies that add additional MCS triggers into the air, such as ozone or chemicals. And IQAir products are constructed of computer-grade ABS plastics that do not “off-gas” into the air.

GC MultiGas with certificate of performance

Certified performance

IQAir looks beyond theoretical claims, testing the performance of each individual GC MultiGas system at the factory to ensure that it meets our strict specifications.

The results of the tests are detailed in a hand-signed Certificate of Performance, which is included with every air purifier. No GC MultiGas air purifier will be shipped from the factory unless it is certified to provide a minimum of 99% efficiency against particles.
