The Center for Hydrometeorological Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet) is the authorized state body in the field of hydrometeorology, as well as monitoring climate change and environmental pollution in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The tasks of the Center for Hydrometeorological Service include the development and improvement of the state system of hydrometeorological observations, hydrometeorological support of economic sectors, research work, improvement of short-term and long-term weather forecasting, river water content, climate change and monitoring of atmospheric air pollution. Uzhydromet is a member the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the main purpose of which is to observe the weather and climate, to cooperate in the collection and exchange of data on meteorological, hydrological and other observations of the state of the environment. Since 1967, Tashkent has been one of 29 regional meteorological centers that collects meteorological information, prepares and distributes weather maps and forecasts in the States of Central Asia, the Middle East and the Asian part of Russia.
