GE agrees to pay $2.25M to settle federal complaint

General Electric has agreed to pay a $2.25 million penalty for releasing dangerous levels of air pollution in upstate New York and falsifying pollution control records.

According to a DOJ media release, “On at least 1,859 occasions ... GE employees manually overrode the automatic waste feed cut-off system, thereby potentially exposing the public and the environment to harmful, hazardous air pollutants.” For the full report continue reading at the Daily Gazette.
