When singer and dancer Rick Faugno moved from New York to Las Vegas in 2008 to play the lead role in the musical “Jersey Boys” at the Palazzo Hotel, he and his wife figured they left air quality problems behind.
But when Faugno arrived in Las Vegas he soon began struggling with what is known to singers as “Vegas Throat” - bronchitis, sinusitis and laryngitis that often occur in response to the abundant allergens and pollen that blow into Vegas with the desert winds.
“My lead role as singer Frankie Valli in “Jersey Boys” requires my voice to be in the best possible condition, every night,” says Faugno. “Unfortunately, living in Las Vegas, it was starting to look like an impossibility.”
Faugno says both he and his wife were suffering from the effects of allergens. Taking deep breaths became difficult, even at home.
“I had resigned myself to the fact that this is part of living in Las Vegas and I would just have to get used to it,” he says.
Then in early 2011 Faugno began researching air filtration as a possible solution to his air quality problems, at least at home.
“I visited dozens of Web sites and watched many YouTube videos about air purifiers. And I chose IQAir when I realized they have received many more accolades and recognition than any other company,” he says. He used the IQAir Web site to find a local authorized dealer, purchased an IQAir HealthPro® Plus, took it home and turned it on. Within 30 minutes, he says, he noticed the results.
“I could tell the difference in my breathing and in my energy level,” he says.
“I was doing a ballet workout, since I am also a dancer, and suddenly I noticed I had no issues with breath control or stamina. I simply felt good. I was and am completely amazed by this machine. I forgot what it feels like breathing clean, healthy air.”
Faugno says he wishes he could take his IQAir HealthPro® Plus along with him to the theater each day and clean the air backstage. He's spreading the word with the rest of the “Jersey Boys” cast, and says his HealthPro® Plus is a “must-have for performers, especially in the Las Vegas environment.”
“I only wish I had discovered the machine, or even thought of having an air purifier, much earlier,” says Faugno.
“However, it's better late than never and I will be using IQAir air purifiers for the rest of my life.”
As Frankie Valli, lead singer of The Four Seasons whom Faugno emulates in the show every night, might have crooned, “It's just too good to be true...” But in this case, it is true that IQAir has helped at least one Vegas star shine brighter than ever.
