The following are passages taken from the air purifier test published in a recent issue of “test”*, Germany’s leading independent consumer product test magazine.
The consumer organisation that publishes “test”, the independent foundation Stiftung Warentest specially commended the IQAir HealthPro 250. It was the only device out of ten international air cleaners to receive the top mark “very good” for the removal of airborne particulates. In North America the HealthPro 250 is sold under the model name HealthPro Plus.
“To test the removal efficiency for dust and pollen, each [air filtration] unit was switched on in a test chamber with an air volume of ca. 20 m3 [approx. 706 cubic feet]. A measuring device then recorded the amount and size of the particles removed from the air after a given time. The readings recorded particles of a diametre of between 0.3 and 10 microns (one micron is one thousandth of a millimetre). Therefore also minuscule, possibly allergy-causing particles were counted. The particles were generated by the mechanical smoking of filterless cigarettes.”
“The IQAir model was “very good” at removing these particles […]. “That is to say, after 15 minutes around 85% of all dirt particles of even 0.5 to 1.5 microns in size had already been removed.
“The [best of the other] units … only removed about half as many particles in comparable conditions.”
“[One of the air cleaners] carries a seal of approval ‘suitable for allergy sufferers’. However, as the test revealed, other units were equally “good” and the IQAir even better.”
“Our advice:The best air cleaning effect for airborne particles was achieved by the IQAir …”
