HyperHEPA® filtration

The GC MultiGas features two particle filters that work in tandem to provide an overall reduction of more than 99% of all particles (0.3 microns and larger) in the air. First, a HyperHEPA Pre-Filter eliminates micro- and nano-particles such as allergens, smoke, bacteria and viruses. New Edition technology, including improved pleat-spacing patterns and other advances, extends the life of the H11 HyperHEPA pre-filter by 20%. The HyperHEPA pre-filter also helps extend the life of the gas-phase media by preventing the gas-control cartridges from clogging with particulates. The GC MultiGas HyperHEPA pre-filter is proven and certified to eliminate 95% of all particles down to 0.003 microns, the smallest particles that exist. This includes the entire range of ultrafine particles, the smallest and most harmful particles in the air. Additionally, each GC MultiGas gas-phase cartridge is wrapped with a micro-charged post-filter sleeve that eliminates particles released in the activated carbon adsorption and alumina pellet chemisorption media.

3D UltraSeal™

The efficiency stated for most air cleaners is purely theoretical. Internal leakage drastically reduces the actual efficiency of most air cleaners. IQAir systems feature patented triple sealing technology. First, a unique process ensures that the filter media is 100 percent sealed in the filter frame. Second, our patented 3D UltraSeal ensures perfect knife-edge-in-groove sealing between filter frame and housing. Third, individual seals on each housing module ensure an airtight housing. As a result, IQAir systems have a total system efficiency that is higher than the theoretical efficiency of conventional air cleaners.

New Edition fan

The New Edition features the most powerful fan ever used in a residential room air purifier. That power translates into even better air cleaning results. The new three-dimensionally optimized design now uses state-of-the-art aerodynamics to convert energy into more air and less noise. IQAir systems use the highest quality fan motor available. This fan has an astonishing 780 cfm (1325 m³/h) rating at 2750 rpm. Because each fan is individually balanced and uses steel ball bearings, it outlasts other fans by years. The IQAir New Edition fan is suspended in a housing unit that isolates the fan from the housing with eight shock absorbers to further reduce noise.

The best media for superior filtration

The GC MultiGas features the best media in the industry combined with superior filter design to provide an unequaled level of protection against gases, odors, and chemicals. The four disposable gas-phase filter cartridges of the GC MultiGas feature 12 lbs. (5.4 kg.) of the highest-grade activated carbon from bituminous coal, not the lower-quality coconut-shell carbon others use. IQAir also does not use zeolite, another less effective and less expensive filtration medium. Alumina pellets impregnated with potassium permanganate remove formaldehyde from the air. The cylindrical shape of the GC MultiGas cartridges allows for optimal contact between the air and the filtration media, while offering very low air restriction. Meanwhile, post filters wrap each cylinder, preventing any media dust from being released while further improving overall system efficiency.

5-Year warranty

The IQAir GC MultiGas air purifier is an investment in clean air for many years to come. Like all of our air purifiers, each GC MultiGas air purifier is manufactured at our factory in Switzerland to demanding standards that are the highest in the industry. And each system is thoroughly tested and its performance verified before it leaves the factory (see above). As a result, IQAir is proud to cover the GC MultiGas in the United States and Canada for a full five (5) years against defects in parts and labor. Filters are consumables and exempt from this warranty.

ULTRAFINE PARTICLES (Particles 0.003μ - 0.1μ) | 90% of all airborne particles

Ultrafine particles are airborne particles less than 0.1 microns in diameter. In sheer number, they represent more than 90% of all airborne pollutants. Ultrafine particles are inhaled and deposited directly into the lungs, where they penetrate tissue and can be absorbed directly into the bloodstream. Through the bloodstream, they can reach any organ or area of the human body.

FINE PARTICLES (PM2.5) | Greater than 9% of all airborne particles

Fine particles (also known as PM2.5) are particulate matter that is less than or equal to 2.5 microns in diameter. Fine particles penetrate deeply into the lungs, into areas known as small airways and into the primary air exchange areas of the lungs. Fine particles come from vehicle exhaust, gas and chemical reactions, tobacco smoke, burning candles and other indoor and outdoor sources.

COARSE PARTICLES (PM10) | Less than 1% of all airborne particles

Coarse particles (also known as PM10) are those with a diameter between 2.5 and 10 microns in diameter. Coarse particles are deposited almost exclusively in the nose and throat. They are not generally inhalable directly into the lungs. Examples of PM10 include coal dust, fly ash, some components of wood smoke, asbestos fibers, and roadside particles from tires and brakes. This category also includes dust, some pollen and mold spores.
